Relora Supplement and Uses

Relora is a supplement manufactured from the barks of two Chinese trees. These two trees, Magnolia officinalis, and the Phellodendron amurense, are used traditionally in promoting reactions that are healthy against stress.

The Phellodendron amurense is known to help in keeping the mind in a cool state.  “Magnolia officinalis”,on the other hand, is known to give support for the proper functioning of the adrenal glands of the body.

Phellodendron

Phellodendron, also called amur cork tree, is a plant popular for its bark. The amur tree is found primarily in the east of Asia; China, Japan, Amur, and Korea.  The bark, which makes the tree very popular, is used primarily for medicine although other uses exist.

The Chinese have found the tree bark extremely medicinal. Its extracts are widely used in treating over 50 diseases and health conditions. However, some of the treatments, which are chiefly orally administered, lack the support of scientific research.

Phellodendron is known to contain some chemicals that fight inflammation and redness. In particular, it contains a chemical ‘berberine’ that helps control LLD cholesterol (“bad cholesterol”). Berberine also rids the liver of toxic substances and it might have anti-tumor properties as well.

In general, Phellodendron is used in the treatment of

  • Stress
  • Obesity
  • Weight loss
  • Ulcers
  • Psoriasis
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Diarrhea.
  • Eye infections
  • Meningitis
  • Diabetes
  • Pneumonia
  • Tuberculosis

Magnolia

Magnolia, also called beaver tree, is a plant popular for its bark and flowers. The tree is of the species Magnolia and it is found primarily around the mountains and valleys of China. The plant which sheds its leaves once a year has thick brown bark.

In traditional Chinese medicine, the bark which can be obtained from the branches, stem, and roots is called hou po. Traditionally, it is used in the treatment of various conditions. The efficiency of these treatments still lack scientific backing.

The therapeutic uses of the bark are attributed to two chemicals; honokiol, and magnolol, present in it. With the help of these two chemicals, magnolia reduces anxiety. Magnolia is also able to treat asthma by producing steroids in the body.

These chemicals have also been known to kill bacteria in the mouth, thereby reducing cavities and swelling in the mouth. Kinds of toothpaste these days add magnolia extract for these exact reasons.

Major Health Benefits Of Relora

After extensive studies on Relora, the following are tested and proven health benefits of the supplement:

1. Improving Stress Response Through Reduced Cortisol Levels

This is arguably the best known advantage of using Relora. Many people today suffer from accumulation of stress. When left unattended, it causes damage in overall health. Cortisol is the hormone released in the adrenal glands of the body when it is under any sort of stress.

Have you had to meet up with an unrealistic deadline recently?  Did you recently get stuck in traffic? Or did you have to keep up late nights for extended periods? If you answered yes to any of these questions then at one time you must have increased your cortisol levels without knowing.

Usually, this is not a bad thing. In the situations described above, your body releases cortisol as a sort of signal to opt for increased energy generation. Consequently, your body generates more glucose to help you deal with your stressor.

At this point, you might want to ask, when does it become a problem? Good question, the problem starts when your body fails to end this process after the stressor is gone.

Your body continues to produce cortisol even though you are no longer stressed out. Another problem arises when you keep activating the process constantly. That is, you keep getting stressed for a long period.

Relora helps you in these ugly situations by reducing the levels of cortisol in your system. Additionally, Relora gives you extra energy.

2. Reducing Anxiety

In the United States, an estimated 10% of the total population takes one or more anti-depressants. By calculation that’s roughly about 27 million people. These anti-depressants are commonly prescribed for depression and anxiety.

Most depressed people suffer from excessive pressure relating to stress-filled environments as well as unrealistic demands. The ideal treatment should be taking these people away from these environments.

In reality, however, it is very unrealistic. For instance, you might not be able to abandon your children, but you can take anti-depressants to relieve the anxiety you feel.

Anxiety results from the inability of a person to rest, racing thoughts in their mind. This usually happens when the sympathetic nervous system is “too active”. Anxiety usually leads to hot flashes/warm flushes, insomnia, heart palpitations, and panic attacks.

Although these symptoms could have several causes, the most common is the sensitivity to cortisol levels in the body. Taking Relora will help soothe these symptoms.

3. Reducing Carbohydrate Cravings

Stress can take different tolls on different people. Some people tend to lose weight when they are stressed out. Some people, on the other hand, tend to “stress eat”.

This ‘stress eating’ is a contributing factor to weight gain and possibly obesity. If you find yourself in this category of people who eat more under stress, Relora might help you deal with such conditions. The drug attaches affinities to nerve receptors that are responsible for satisfaction and relaxation.

4. Improving Sleep

Magnolia, one of the key ingredients in Relora, is known to have constituents that behave just like benzodiazepines. Familiar examples of benzodiazepines are Valium and Xanax that are widely prescribed for sleep-related issues.

Relora works by activating some pathways in the brain that eventually reduces nervous tension, irritability, difficulties with sleeping, sleeplessness, and stress. Besides, it affects your body’s sleep cycle (circadian rhythm).

You should note, that though the drug helps you sleep well, it doesn’t sedate you.

5. Weight Loss

While taking Relora for the sole purpose of weight loss is not advised, it can reduce weight systemically. If you look at weight gain from a wider perspective, Relora might fit in an elaborate plan to curb weight gain. When you consider that amongst all the predisposing factors of weight gain, some fall under the jurisdiction of relora.

For instance, stress causes an increased waist to hips ratio common in women.  Inadequate sleep causes insulin resistance. A condition that ultimately results in the imbalance of glucose in the body causing weight gain. Increased cravings for food as well is another predisposing factor for weight gain.

By controlling stress and cortisol, improving your sleep, reducing food cravings, Relora could work as part of an elaborate plan to lose weight. Note that Relora used all by itself might not be effective as a strategy for weight loss.

Should You Take Relora?

If you have any two or more of the following symptoms, you might want to consider taking the supplement. However, you might want to speak with your doctor first.

  • If you suffer from anger, confusion, lack of vigor, tension, fatigue, or depression
  • If you suffer from racing thoughts at night or you have anxiety that prevents you from sleeping
  • If you have food cravings or you find it hard to refuse some foods
  • If your cortisol levels are high, especially salivary cortisol
  • If you suffer from depression or anxiety, or a combination of both, you can take Relora in addition to anti-depressants
  • If you have symptoms of adrenal fatigue
  • If you don’t tolerate stress well or you are very sensitive to stress

Side Effects And Precautions When Using Relora

Most reports claim that of all the about  80 million doses of Relora that have been used in the United States, there have been no records of major side effects. Although a few moderate side effects can occur which include:

1. Diarrhea

People using the supplements at very high doses have complained of gastrointestinal disorders, chiefly diarrhea.

2. Drowsiness

During the first three days of use, some users have complained of drowsiness. To some extent, it is not a side effect since sleep is one of the reasons why people take it. However, drowsiness wears off in a few days after using the drug.

Relora should not be taken alongside with Benzodiazepines since both have similar pathways. Also, Relora is not to be taken by pregnant women or lactating mothers.

Conclusion

Relora is a health supplement that helps you get quality sleep, and tolerate stress better. It also helps you get rid of anxiety, food cravings, and could help you with losing weight. However, in order to enjoy these benefits you will have to use between 250 mg and 500mg of the supplement every day for about 4 weeks. It is important that before you start using this supplement or any drug at all that you consult with your doctor for clarifications.
